HISTORY OF CARLES
Like any other municipalities in Iloilo, Philippines, Carles is rich in Spanish historical avenues. It was then called “Badiang” which means wild giant Gabi variety – an edible plant copious in the place. After a petition made by settlers to make Barrio Badiang, a municipality, Barrio Badiang was later called Municipality of Carles in honor of a Spanish Governor who approved the petition.
Today, Carles stands as one of the most visited and enjoyed places in Iloilo because of its amazing beauty spots, friendly and welcoming locals and beautiful beaches.
